Reportage realized by François Renaut
We are close to “CHRISTMAS - CHRISTMAS” and for one of the largest Catholic communities in the world if not the largest, this period already begins in November
We went to the Calamba feria because it is part of local life for a resident eager to discover the customs and customs of the Filipinos!
In an area that is difficult to access, a recurring problem in this area, because of the traffic, the feria shines with all its lights and illuminations as you can notice. A magnificent fir tree adorns the central square as well as the Town Hall. The park also offers a setting illuminated by reindeer - an exotic animal in a tropical country!
The alleys offer numerous food stalls of all kinds and the crowds wandering around cannot resist the tempting fumes from these. Good-natured atmosphere but I just noticed:
Not a single smoker (according to the municipal decree)
Not a drop of alcohol
However, we could have noted the visual presence of a symbolism linked, in this deeply religious country, to the birth of Christ. A crèche could have been installed.
I recommend that you try to visit this places nexrt year that allow you to get another idea of a local way of life!
We will come back !
