History (brief) is so exceptional ! In the 9th century, the banks of the Seine and the coasts of the English Channel suffered violent and destructive attacks from the Vikings. Coming from Scandinavia, they gradually settled in the region. In 911, the Carolingian king Charles the Simple put an end to these invasions with the treaty of Saint-Clair-sur-Epte. He then granted Rollo a territory roughly similar to present-day Upper Normandy. In exchange, the Viking leader converted to Christianity and guaranteed peace. Normandy, “land of the men of the North”, was born! From 933, it already extended to the limits that we know today. William the Conqueror and the Anglo-Norman Kingdom At the head of the Duchy of Normandy, the descendants of Rollo built one of the most powerful and best organized states in Europe, which would prosper for nearly 300 years. William the Conqueror seized the English crown in 1066. A century later, Norman domination in Western Europe extended as far as the Pyrenees, under the Plantagenet dynasty. But after several years of covetousness, the kingdom of France of the Capetian Philippe Auguste finally took possession of Normandy in 1204.

- Le château de Fontaine-Henry est une demeure familiale exceptionnelle de Normandie. Construit en 1200, il ne ressemble à aucun château de l’époque et est souvent qualifié de “château de la Loire égaré en Normandie” ou encore de “dentelle de pierre”. Un style flamboyant unique qui n’a pas encore révélé tous ses secrets. Un château idéal pour une visite, un escape game ou pour y organiser vos événements internationaux.
