SAINT NAZAIRE : PAYS DE LA LOIRE
|
The history of the Saint-Nazaire shipyard, known as Chantiers de l'Atlantique following the merger of Chantiers de la Loire and Chantiers de Penhoët in 1955, then Aker Yards in 2006, STX France in 2008 and again Chantiers de l'Atlantique in 2018, is marked by a succession of technological leaps, sometimes dictated by a difficult global context. Nautical activities: this is the region! Many of you have never sailed and want to have a first approach to the operation of a cruising sailboat and life at sea, others have a very specific and more technical requirement (maneuvers, cartography, etc.).
The Pays de la Loire region is one of the most important seaside destinations in France. Made up of two departments, Vendée to the south and Loire-Atlantique to the north, the beaches of Pays de la Loire are very popular in summer. Vast expanses of sand in the south bordered by dunes, the landscape changes in the north as you approach Brittany (the Loire Atlantique is often classified with the south of Brittany). The beaches of Vendée are the most touristy in the Pays de la Loire region. The resort of Les Sables d'Olonne is the best known but many smaller resorts offer equivalent beaches with stretches of sand as far as the eye can see. The islands of Yeu and Noirmoutier complete the choice. To the north, we find the beaches of Loire-Atlantique. La Baule is the busiest resort with its large central beach. The Guérande peninsula is also very sought after. The landscapes begin to transform to give way to a few small secret coves in the middle of a coast which becomes rocky. To the south, we find the beaches of Charente-Maritime with its famous islands (Oléron, Ré and Aix). To the north, the beaches of Morbihan are organized around its gulf and the Atlantic Ocean.
