Get here Mountain and Sea ! The Pyrénées-Orientales are one of the most beautiful regions of Occitanie. The Mediterranean coastline and the mountain range are just a few kilometers from each other. This region offers beautiful landscapes, seaside resorts and numerous hiking trails. A shared story Between the Garonne and the Rhône lies a large space, bordered to the north by the foothills of the Massif Central, to the south by the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean. In 27 centuries of history, this southern European space, made up of multiple and subtle complementarities, has seen people with different cultures and spiritualities rub shoulders and intermingle. The Languedoc-Roussillon and Midi-Pyrénées regions have always forged links and increased exchanges. The proof from History… The Circus of Gavarnie Located on the French-Spanish border, in the heart of the Pyrenees National Park, it stands out for the spectacular size of its limestone walls, its peaks at an altitude of 3000m and its 423 meter high waterfall, one of the highest of Europe. Every summer, the circus hosts the Gavarnie Festival, a unique artistic experience surrounded by nature. Walk from the village along the Gave on foot, on horseback or by donkey to the Hôtellerie du Cirque (3 hours round trip on foot).

D'artagnan and the three musketeers
From 1658, another life began for d'Artagnan who emerged from the shadow of the cardinal. His appointment to the second lieutenant of the Musketeers brings him closer to the young King Louis XIV, with whom bonds of trust will be established. From that time on, their destinies were closely linked. Bonds of mutual trust and esteem, already established at the time of the Fronde, were confirmed between the king and his second lieutenant who, in the absence of the lieutenant in title, assumed effective command of the company. Louis XIV was now eighteen years old; d'Artagnan had reached forty; he had proven by his past services his devotion to the royal person; his frank, courageous and faithful character appealed to the young sovereign, who had absolute confidence in him. D'Artagnan's place would now be at the king's side.

- After mandates as mayor and deputy as well as ministerial functions, in 2016 she became the first president of the new Occitanie / Pyrénées-Méditionranée Region. In June 2021, Carole Delga was re-elected as president of the Region.

- The Hôtel de Région Midi-Pyrénées is one of the first to have been built in France1, the construction of this new program of public buildings results from the law of decentralization of power, of March 2, 1982. Delivery, initially planned in October 1984, was delayed by several months following an explosive attack on September 24, 19841.
